Hey There, Did You Start Your Blog Today? Oh.

start your blogHey there. How did it go for you today? Did you start your blog yet? You didn’t? Why not? You were too busy? Doing what? Making cold calls? Oh, I see.

How many did you make? Wow, that’s a lot. Did you get to see any decision makers? Oh, they weren’t available? I see. So tell me, how many sales did you make? I see, none.
I guess you were pretty disappointed huh? But you did what? Oh, you got a chance to quote one prospect. Cool. Maybe tomorrow will be better.

Does this sound anything like your sales day? If it does, you better start right now and think long and hard about your future. If you stick to this routine you will soon become another train wreck in a junk yard of broken down sales people. If you want things to change, listen up.

Start Your Blog Now – It’s Your Future

I wish I knew how many times in a day this scenario played out among all the sales people in the world. I’m quite sure the numbers would be staggering. But here’s the good news. You can start your blog right now and start designing your future.

How I Got Started

About seven years ago, I started getting really interested in the internet and making money. At that time, I had absolutely no idea as to where to start. Then strangely enough, I stumbled across a book while searching for ways to tap into this new business model I was seeing pop up on the internet. I bought it. I read it. Then I read it again.

I started a website. Oh, I didn’t know how to do that either but I learned. Just me, no mentor, no help from anyone. It was ugly but it was mine. Then I wrote a couple of articles and posted them to my site and one of the directories.  Things started to happen. I made a bit of money online. I think it was around three dollars.

After several months, I told a friend about the couple of dollars I made online by writing an article. His advice, “write more articles”.  I did and so can you.

Listen Up

never too lateI told you this to make this point. Listen and take heed. It’s never too late to start your blog, but it is always too late to turn back the clock of your life. Yesterday is gone forever, tomorrow isn’t here yet so the only time you have is right here in this moment. All you have is right now.

Start your blog now and learn as you go. It won’t take long for you to become the authority in your expertise and potential customers will be seeking you out. Wouldn’t it be nice to have people who want to buy your products calling you? You bet it would. It can happen if you grab hold of this digital world and use it to your advantage.

You see, people search for something every day on the internet and they even search for what you are selling. If you are not online with a blog telling them about your product and how you can solve their problems, then to them, you don’t exist.

Keep Your Excuses to Yourself

I don’t care what excuse you come up with, I’ve heard it before and you yourself know it’s a bunch of bologna. The fact is if you want something bad enough you will find a way. Excuses are just that, excuses.

Seriously, have you ever heard of Google? If you want to know anything just Google it. It’s the same if you want to start your blog. You can bet somebody somewhere in this vast digital world called the internet has written an eBook on how you can start your blog.

Keep your excuses to yourself and start your blog.

Your Turn

I would love to know how you got started in this digital world. Tell me about it below.

It’s time to make a difference in your life and the lives of others by finding your passion and having the courage to follow and share it. And...I really like coffee.

  1. I started building websites in 1994 as a hobby. The content was pretty mundane; but it wasn’t content I was going for, it was form and function. I figured that the content would come later. Now I have my main website and it has a blog, some pictures and a few other things on it… But still, I’m perfecting the form and function so the content will come later. Ocha asked for my input on a few of his sites and I was pleased to help. I still am, to this day. He touches on key points:

If you are going to be a success in the sales field, you need to start a blog and talk about the things you sell or offer. It is, essentially a descriptive website of what you do, sell, and most importantly, why you are better than the next guy- This is key- If you are going to sell widgets, there are approximately 231 bazillion people providing the same service and selling the same widgets. You need to have something the others don’t, otherwise known as “value-add”. Another important aspect to realize: Your blog should be search engine friendly. If it isn’t, you are going to have a tough time being seen. Example: A family travels down Route 66. They need to stop, get gas, grab a bite to eat, go use the restroom, etc. Along the route there are a few gas stations that offer food, clean restrooms, good food, easy access, and more. However, they get passed by because they just have a little board up above their roof that says “gas”. The family stops at the gas station with the big neon sign that says “Gas, Good Food, Clean Restrooms, Easy Access”… With all the gas stations offering the same amenities, the one with the neon sign and big colorful letters wins out. What I am saying is, make yourself stand out if you are going to sell something. In essence, you are selling yourself. The product sells itself once you do that.

    1. Hey Jon, That was a mouth full but to the point. You are dead on about doing something others don’t in order to stand out. I’m happy to hear you agree with sales folks needing to have a blog.
