I’ve been talking about the fact that you need to have a blog, but how do you pick the best blogging platform?
How do you choose from all the blogging platforms that are available? What if you don’t choose the right one? Does it even matter which one you choose?
What Is a Blogging Platform Anyway?
In an earlier post I stated that it doesn’t matter which blogging platform you choose. In one sense that’s true, but when it gets right down to it, you do need to choose one that suits your needs.
If you are already blogging, then this is probably not for you. However, you might want to stick around.
For those of you looking to take my advice and start your own blog, then listen closely.
A blogging platform is simply a means to create and upload content to your website. Think of it this way. You write a sales letter in Word, attach it to an email and hit the send button.
A blogging platform does basicly the same thing. You create content, then hit publish and you have a webpage uploaded to the web.
So Which Is the Best Blogging Platform?
Okay so there’s more to it but for starters that gives you an idea of what it is. Two of the most popular blog platforms is probably Blogger and WordPress.
For me, I use WordPress with a Voyage theme and I really feel it is the best blogging platform to use. Especially when you are just starting out but very serious. (more on that later)
Aside from how easy it is to use, it’s free with my web hosting company and all the content I upload is mine.
On the other hand, Blogger too is free but all your content belongs to Blogger, not you.
So for ease of use and the fact that it is probably the most common and best blogging platform you will find, I choose, and recommend WordPress. There’s actually no need to look any further. Just pick it and get started.
You will need a web hosting company to host your blog and again there are lots of good ones. My choice is HostGator. If you are not very technically inclined, take my advice and use them to host your site. Their technical department rocks. (again, more on this later)
So which do I see as being the best blogging platform to host your blog? WordPress via HostGator. Easy with great support.
What other blogging platforms have you heard of that you think are worth using?
